The concert tour is part of the promotion supporting Mateusz Kowalski’s debut album published by CD Accord and distributed by Naxos, as well as a part of his tour of Europe, China and the US. The first album is a collection of musical pieces which are particularly important to the artist. The track list includes compositions by Bach, Giuliani, Tárrega, Barrioso, Piazzolla, Ponce and a premiere recording of an Assad piece, as well as a new Schubert arrangement.
Mateusz Kowalski is considered as one of the “rising stars” of the world guitar scene, and Classical Guitar Magazine dubbed him a “spectacular” musician whose interpretations are “breathtaking”. Apart from numerous concerts, the artist teaches at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
As a touring guitarist Kowalski performed in some of the most renowned venues in the world. At the age of 23 he debuted in the Viennese Musikverein and he performed in the Shanghai Grand Theatre – a concert hall honoured by such eminent artists as Yo-Yo Ma or Luciano Pavarotti. In 2019 he performed the famous "Concierto de Aranjuez” with the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra. He played recitals in Paris, Budapest, London – in over 15 countries worldwide altogether.
Kowalski’s repertoire combines pieces from various periods – from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions – which he interprets with the observance of the performing principles of the given period. The artist attempts to build intriguing, compelling and often surprising musical creations which can become an interesting and emotive story that draws the audience in.
